Rob Smith, TPLI, TCI, ITAS
Agent-in-Charge

Rob Smith is now one of less than three dozen Texas Certified Investigators recognized from over 4,000 investigators licensed by the State of Texas Department of Public Safety – Private Security Bureau. He was formerly the senior criminal investigator for the Richardson, Texas Police Department, where his duties included personal protection of a well-known individual for several months at the direction of the Secret Service Agency of the U.S. Treasury Department during the era following the Kennedy assassination. He completed extensive administrative and operational training schools and seminars provided by the Southwest Law Enforcement Institute at Southern Methodist University, Texas A & M, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Smith is now a Texas Department of Public Safety - PSB approved continuing education instructor and school director-operator with previous experience in both police academy instruction and teaching at the community college level. He is co-owner with his wife Macklyn, and managing agent for Executive Services Investigation Agency located in the Richardson-Plano-North Dallas "Telecom Corridor" with additional offices and a major data resource retrieval center near the cities of Eustace and Log Cabin in the East Texas / Cedar Creek area.

His agency is very "corporate" oriented and employs fifteen agents that specialize in many areas of investigation. Most of the Executive Services agents are trained and state-registered personal protection specialists and can provide coverage for one-on-one bodyguard services or a complete motorcycle escorted motorcade for executives and dignitaries. Although not required to be licensed investigators, all ESIA agents have also been trained extensively for the ITAS designation and specialize in working with major organizations conducting conventions and tradeshows throughout the country. The commissioned PSB officers under his direction as Agent-in-Charge, have successfully provided Executive Protection for a major energy corporation's national administration headquarters for a period spanning several months during the past 3 years. The scope of his investigative operations and merits of his experienced and trained qualified staff may be reviewed on this web site.

As an active member of the Texas Association of Licensed Investigators and winner of the 2001 TALI President's Award, Rob was appointed Chairman of the Texas Certified Investigator Committee in 2001. He has also served as co-chairman of both the State Media Information Committee and as Chairman of the Vendor Trade Show Committee. He actively exhibits the Texas Certified Investigator vendor booth at all TALI functions as well as other related investigator-oriented conventions and seminars. His responsibility as State Certification Chairman is direct oversight of the Distance Learning Continuing Education program recognized by the TX DPS-PSB Licensing Agency.

Smith has many years of success in marketing experience while serving as Chairman of the Board in Hawaii for the Silver Seal Corp., Royal Rainbow Rent-a-Car Corp., and Travel Services International, Inc. He was President of Air Hawaii and was instrumental in acquiring six other inter-island air-passenger carriers before his company was merged with a larger intra-state airline. He has been an officer and/or director of seven corporations over the past 32 years. Besides his wife Macklyn, a managing division director in their agency, and his family, his passion has always been in the law enforcement and investigative fields.
